Since a young age, curiosity compels me to tinker, read, write, and make. I have ADHD (Adult Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), which I believe is intrinsically tied to my predisposition to the arts. While it makes the "running a business" part of this studio a significant challenge, I also believe that it is the engine that powers my open approach to art.
My personal philosophy is that art is defined by a thoughtful, intentional approach to any task. That is why art can be found in every sense and profession: we can hear, smell, taste, feel, see, and even imagine art. Art can be food or the cooking process behind the food; art can be a poem--whether written, read, or said; art can be a canning spoon, crafted to fit one's hand.
SoulTrinket Studios is the horizon to which my eccentricity can run unfettered. More practically, it is the label under which I make things. I am particularly interested in making premium and bespoke tabletop gaming accessories, customized gifts, and functional art out of wood. But I enjoy all forms of creation and have a great many skills in various, unrelated fields. I am a skilled writer. I have built and run enterprise IT systems. I am a programmer. I have a working knowledge of many technologies. This spectrum of skillsets culminates in the ability to conceptualize and create functional, mixed-media art.
Another large component of this studio is a focus on using reclaimed/recycled material. Growing up, we often did not have much money. Using what you have, making use of every scrap, and re-using "junk" is practically hard-wired into me. Add in a healthy pinch of ecological concern, and I see this practice as both a continuation of "blue collar" tradition and an effort in being a greener company.
Pitch me your idea, and I will give you a frank answer as to whether I believe--with confidence--that we can realize your vision.
If you don't have an absolutely wild idea, don't fret! Crafting functional objects with an eye for detail and every day luxury is a pleasure for me.
